Butch Carungay is a creative entrepreneur, design advocate and community crusader. An investment banker by training, Butch worked in advertising and management consulting in New York before returning to the Philippines in 2000. He’s been an active proponent of the creative movement since 2008 when Cebu was first designated as a Creative City by the British Council. In 2019, Butch led Cebu’s successful bid to be designated as a UNESCO City of Design and was a National Consultant for the United Nations Department of Social and Economic Affairs in 2020. He is currently the Nexus of the Creative Cebu Grid, serves on the Cebu City Tourism Commission, and is in the core team that is working to establish the Philippine Creative Cities Network.
