New York’s prestigious Pratt Institute of Design recently conferred a Legends Award to  Cebuano design star Kenneth Cobonpue – the first ever Filipino to receive this distinction.

These awards honor distinguished leaders, innovative thinkers, and creative icons whose dedication to their communities, the development of their field, and the promotion of a positive future resonates with Pratt’s values. Legends raises funds to provide financial aid to Pratt students and support diversity.

Kenneth is a celebrated furniture and spatial designer who is one of the founders of Cebu Design Week.  This year, he is being recognized alongside visionary architect Edward Mazria, and renowned artist Kay WalkingStick.

Past Legends Award recipients include Paula Scher, Iris Apfel, Marc Jacobs, Takashi Murakami, David Rockwell, Julian Schnabel, Julie Taymor, Santiago Calatrava, Daniel Boulud, and many more.

Kenneth has won multiple awards over the years spanning numerous categories and is a member of the Design Center of the Philippines’ Design Advisory Council.  He has also received a Gawad sa Sining Award in 2022 which is the highest honor bestowed by the Cultural Center of the Philippines.  His work is distributed in high end showrooms and via leading interior designers around the world – in addition to his company-operated locations in Munich, Manila, New York and Tokyo.
