CDW 2022 IS BIGGER AND BETTER!

CEBU DESIGN WEEK november 24-27, 2022

This year’s Cebu Design Week had two main features – the Visayas Art Fair and the brand-new Bodega Design Caravan.

A total of 43 exhibitors from both the Visayas and National Capital Region made for a much larger event this year.

Held at two venues at the Oakridge Business Park, this year’s CDW2022 was also jampacked with activities and complementary events to entertain and inspire the many collectors, students, enthusiasts, and supporters for both the arts and Cebu’s design ecosystem.

ATTENDANCE AT AN ALL-TIME HIGH

OVER 5,000 PEOPLE VISITED CDW 2022

This number represents a 30% increase over 2021 when COVID-19 restrictions were still in place.  The brand new Bodega Design Caravan – despite being held in a separate venue in the complex – was the main reason for this increase in attendance as it attracted visitors that were more interested in Cebuano designs that have played a big part in UNESCO’s recognition of Cebu as a City of Design in 2019.

COMPLEMENTARY EVENTS

NUMEROUS EVENTS KEPT THE AUDIENCES HAPPY

This year’s CDW was jampacked with complementary events to keep the diverse tastes of the visitors happy.  Every day featured a variety of different fashion shows, talks, workshops, performances, inking sessions and a book launch.

Globe Platinum – which was the main corporate sponsor for CDW 2022- also had its own welcome pavilion in the main venue where they showcased a variety of creative products and had a coffee and drinks bar at the Visayas Art Fair floor.

CDW 2023 IS GOING TO BE EVEN MORE EXCITING

PLANNING FOR THE NEXT CEBU DESIGN WEEK IS ALREADY UNDERWAY
Feedback from exhibitors, sponsors, supporters, and visitors has already been compiled and analyzed and will be utilized by the organizers to plan for an event better edition of both the Visayas Art Fair and the Bodega Design Caravan 2023.

Support from the National Commission of Culture and the Arts – which has been the event’s primary government supporter – has already been lodged and will hopefully be approved in early 2023.

In addition to place and product making, the other aspects of design (image and systems) are also being considered for inclusion so CDW2023 becomes a much better representation of Cebu’s diverse and dynamic design ecosystem.

Next year’s edition will still be in November and will also feature the Asian Design Councils Conference which will include delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam and will coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the Design Center of the Philippines.

Should you wish to get involved in any of the planning please reach out to Cebu Design Week on either Instagram or Facebook or email at operations@cebudesignweek.com.
